We are very excited to announce that we will be opening for our first evening of service on Tuesday, March 1st. It has been a long road since the preliminary meetings about Willow took place--we did not even have a name for the place yet--but we're nearing the end of one journey. Another begins when we open our doors to the public for the first time. We are anticipating a great year networking and engaging with Farmers and Producers in the Cascadia region to create tasting menus for our guests. Though we are limitings ourselves to a three-course menu for the month of March, due to Portland Dining Month, we will expand to a six-course Tasting Menu on April 1st. Please see Travel Portland for more information or visit our booking site to make your reservation!

Willow Restaurant is once again putting its pop-up dinners to good use by donating a full 50% of profits from this meal to benefit Outgrowing Hunger, a non-profit that is focused on empowering recent immigrants and refugees to take control of their food supply. Through land grants and an extensive volunteer base, OGH is renting small garden plots to families at a steep discount, so that the recipients can a) grow their own food and b) begin to sell to local chefs and restaurants. We are particularly excited about this dinner because there is an opportunity for us to discover some really interesting, really unknown ingredients that are grown here in Portland. Fitting with our Cascadian-food model, if it grows here we can use; there is also potential that we will collaborate with some of the recipients of the OGH garden plots to create a dish or two for their forthcoming cookbook.
Jefferson Smith, former State Senator and candidate for Mayor, will be our Host for the evening. Bringing to light some of the more poignant success stories, Mr. Smith will help to sharpen the focus on OGH's vital, community based vision.
Tickets and details may be found at Brown Paper Tickets.
Willow Restaurant is happy to announce that we will be one of the featured Chefs at the Healing Garden Gala, held 17 September 2015 in Oregon City. We will be offering three different hors d'oeuvres (Roasted pork, cucumber & pepper; honeyed carrot & oat, compressed melon, pickled rind & salt) both at the VIP reception and the Social reception at this distinctly important event, aimed at raising awareness and support for children who have been victims of abuse.
Willow Restaurant is honored to be collaborating with EarthArtAg on September 13th to create a memorable and delicious meal, sourced from Portland Farmers Markets and EAA's own community and school gardens. This is an excellent opportunity for us to engage directly with the people who are teaching the next generation how to grow and care for food-bearing plants; it is an excellent opportunity for them to find a platform to get their vital message to the food-lovers of portland. Due to the mutually beneficial nature of this event, we are splitting our profits right down the middle with EAA. That's right, 50% of profits will go directly to teaching children how to grow their own food.
This meal will be a little more involved, due to the season and its fundraising nature. The menu will feature 10-courses + snacks and surprises for $120. Wine pairings will be complimentary and optional. Tickets can be purchased at the link here. Please e-mail WillowPDX@gmail.com if you have any questions, or would like more information, about this or other pop-ups.
Willow is pleased to be donating a gift certificate for Two (2) Tasting Menus at one of our pop-ups to the Portland YouthBuilders fundraising event, the Cornhole Classic. This is a great community organization that raises money to help build lives and community for Portland's Youth.
In addition to Willow, there are a number of generous sponsors, most notably Walsh Construction. Cornhole, a live and silent auction, dinner and hosted drinks will all be included in an event ticket. Please come out and support this excellent organization helping to secure a proper foundation for our Youth.
We had a very successful first pop-up at Bluehour on the 16th of August and we're very excited for the next one--coming up in a little under two weeks. We are going to run a very similar menu to our first pop-up, so expect our snacks & surprises and at least 7 courses of delicious, local food.
Please purchase a ticket for this next event at Brown Paper Tickets .
We hope to see you there!
